Echo® 500 series liquid handlers enable assay miniaturization with the routine use of higher density, lower well-volume microwell plates. Using truly touchless acoustic droplet ejection (ADE) technology, Echo liquid handlers provide more precise and more accurate results for a wide range of life science applications. The Echo® 500 series liquid handlers are optimized to transfer many different fluids, including aqueous solutions and DMSO. These systems use ADE to transfer any volume as low as 2.5 nL among 384- and 1536-well microplates, with any-well-to-any-well capability. Echo liquid handlers also automatically measure the depth of fluid in each source well, providing the user with important information about the quantity and quality of samples in the source plates. Our patented acoustic control methodologies, exacting mechanical design and stringent temperature control ensure that all Echo systems deliver the same unsurpassed volumetric precision and accuracy specifications.
All Echo systems come pre-calibrated. With the simple and intuitive GUI you can become productive immediately. All models accommodate both manual and robotic loading, and are easily integrated into large-scale automated workstations.

- Echo Dose-Response Software applies a unique dilution protocol to create multi-log dose-response curves using only one intermediate plate. Fewer plates and tipless, touchless ADE transfer nearly eliminate the loss of sample sticking to plastics, ensuring more accurate, sensitive and cost-effective dose-response determination.
- Echo Cherry Pick Software simplifies transfer of any volume from any source well into any destination well based on an imported pick list.

Echo 555
The Echo® 555 liquid handler is the world’s fastest ADE liquid handling platform. It transfers 2.5 nL of up to 640,000 samples, or 50 nL of up to 463,000 samples, directly to assay wells in 24 hours. Prior to transfer, the Echo 555 monitors the sound waves reflected from well plate fluids to report both the fluid volume in the wells and the water content for samples in DMSO. This system is ideally suited to any laboratory that requires very high-throughput liquid-handling.
Echo 550
As the world’s first ADE system available for life science applications, the Echo 550 liquid handler remains the proven choice for ultra-low-volume liquid handling in leading pharmaceutical companies. This award-winning instrument is acclaimed as one of the most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace in recent years. Like the Echo 555, the Echo 550 reports both fluid volume and DMSO hydration levels. The Echo 550 liquid handler transfers 50 nL of up to 290,000 samples directly to assay wells in 24 hours.
Echo 520
The Echo 520 liquid handler is designed specifically for the requirements of medium throughput labs. The Echo 520 system uses the same ADE technology as the award-winning 550 and 555 models, and delivers the same outstanding precision and accuracy. With throughput more closely matched to the needs of medium-throughput labs, the Echo 520 liquid handler transfer 50 nL of up to 148,000 samples directly to assay wells in 24 hrs. The Echo 520 liquid handler reports source well volume but does not report DMSO hydration values.
