Labcyte Is Your Partner for Assay Miniaturization

Miniaturization can save you money, give more precise and accurate results than other liquid handling methods and is environmentally friendly. We have superior expertise in several innovative technologies that enable you to do better science while reducing waste and experimental costs.

Acoustic droplet ejection (ADE)—Use acoustic energy (ultrasound) to transfer as many as 600,000 different samples a day in 384-, 1536- and 3456-well plates without touching the samples. ADE eliminates the use of tips and washing while avoiding the loss of sample due to adsorption onto surfaces.  ADE is ideally suited for sample transfers assays in the 384-, 1536- and 3456-well formats. We are the pioneers in supplying ADE to the life science industry. This unique technology drives our Echo liquid handler and Portrait spotter product lines, which are used by all of the top ten pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

Bristol-Myers Squibb showed that ADE improved the discovery of leads by 10% in their compound library.

AstraZeneca showed that traditional methods used to transfer samples for dose-response experiments could lead to errors in IC50 values of three or four orders of magnitude. These errors were eliminated when they used ADE to transfer samples.

Magnetic-feedback control (MFC) — This technology uses precise feed-back control to dispense reagents and solvents into 96-, 384- and 1536-well plates. Individual control of each tip means that any volume can be delivered to any well in a single pass. MFC is ideal for solvent back-fill and methods development. Our Deerac liquid handlers use this technology and are the optimal approach for adding reagents to the precioussamples dispensed with our ADE technology.

Intellectual schedulerThis real-time control software optimizes the automated use of our ADE and MFC technologies within our POD™ 810 plate assembler. This unique scheduler makes on-the-fly device control decisions to optimize Echo liquid handling for a variety of applications such as plate reformatting, cherry picking and dose-response curves. You can quickly create new protocols as your needs change with an easy-to-use interface that does not require any programming. The POD 810 intellectual scheduler allows the ultimate flexibility for you to maximize your productivity.

MicroClime® environmental plate protection—Eliminate edge effects. The unique design of our MicroClime®lids reduces sample evaporation and DMSO hydration. The MicroClime lid ensures more uniform experimental results across all wells of a plate, especially for low-volume miniaturized assays.
