Labcyte Inc. develops, markets, and sells innovative and cutting-edge liquid handling instruments to the life-sciences market. Test Technicians will support the day-to-day manufacturing activities at Labcyte.
Job Responsibilities:
- Use established procedures to integrate, test and calibrate instruments on the manufacturing floor and report on findings
- Utilize test methodologies and requisite equipment to ensure in-process and outgoing quality metrics
- Run macros and trend processes
- Implement improvements in product cost, production efficiency, and product quality
- Provide the first line of troubleshooting for diagnosing problems
- Provide hands-on first response to system tuning and start-up issues
- Prepare and pack systems for shipment
- Prepare new and revise existing procedures
- Contribute to group problem solving and process improvement activities
- Other manufacturing tasks as required
Education, skills and experience:
- BS degree in a life science, chemistry or engineering technology discipline preferred; extensive work experience in lieu of degree may be considered
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in a technical position; prior work experience with lab automation industry and related devices is a strong plus
- Excellent hands-on laboratory skills (i.e.: liquid handlers, pipetters, centrifuges, plate readers, etc.)
- Excellent communication, planning, organizational & interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of organization
- Effective and analytical problem solving skills
- Excellent PC applications skills: MS Word, Excel, VB, MS Access, Windows Explorer
- Requires self-initiative and ability to work independently
- Familiarity with liquid handling and molecular biology a plus
- SPC knowledge a plus
- Good hands-on/practical basic mechanical, electronic, and electrical skills, including but not limited to using small hand tools, replacing computer printed circuit boards, routing cable bundles
- Must be willing to work around laser bar code readers, moving electromechanical devices, radio frequency devices, and water sources
