Insight from IGENOMIX: Webinar Explores Acoustic Liquid Handling for Carrier Screening
Written by Bioscribe on March 20, 2018
When you’re sequencing thousands of genetic samples to assess a couples' carrier status for 600 Mendelian diseases, efficiency and accuracy are critical. Enter Echo® Acoustic Liquid Handling..."
In 2017, the international reproductive genetics company IGENOMIX adopted the Echo 525® Liquid Handler for its NGS library preparation. The new technology has enabled the reduction of hands-on time for the company’s carrier genetic testing protocol, ultimately leading to a significant reduction in costs, making the test more affordable and widely available to a higher number of patients.
In the first six months of its introduction, 4,277 samples were analyzed using the new Echo system protocol, compared to 6,156 samples analyzed in a previous 14-month period.
On Thursday, April 5, 11:00 AM ET IGENOMIX Lab Manager, Pere Mir Pardo, Ph.D., will discuss how acoustic liquid handling has transformed their workflow in his lab in Valencia, Spain. He will be joined by Labcyte Sr. Product Manager, Iain Russell, Ph.D., who will present an overview of acoustic droplet ejection technology, describe the benefits of acoustic liquid handling for genomics applications, and provide a review of how the Echo is being utilized in for a variety of applications common to genomics labs.
Join us for this one-hour webinar to gain a deeper understanding of the features and benefits of acoustic liquid handling, and learn the latest about NGS-based expanded CGT analysis.
