SynbiCITE is the Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) for Synthetic Biology at Imperial College in London. You can watch the video or read a summary of their presentation at our Genomics Symposium courtesy of SelectScience.

Dr. David McClymont presented information about how his team has built a high-throughput, industrial-scale facility using automated synthetic biology approaches, including the Echo Liquid Handlers. The main challenge that SynbiCITE had to overcome was finding fit-for-purpose software for statistical modelling design and work cell integration, writes SelectScience. Dr. McClymont developed custom ‘cherry-picking’ algorithms and software and applied it to their synthetic biology workflow. He also designed a software program called AMOS that interfaces with software and hardware in the workflow. Some of the applications they’ve applied their workflow to include microbial metabolic pathway engineering and miniaturized, high-throughput cell-free synthetic biology.
