Labcyte Inc. seeks a highly motivated individual to join our Support team as a Product Support Engineer, Automation. This position will report to the Director of Global Support and is based in San Jose California.
The Product Support Engineer, Automation provides Tier 2 global support for all Labcyte automation products. They respond to incoming communication from field personnel, distributors and customers. Qualified candidates must be able to work independently and as a member of multi-disciplined teams, executing tasks on-time and to marketing specifications. They must have a demonstrated ability to integrate, test, and troubleshoot electronic, mechanical, and software systems comprised of automated laboratory equipment and third party devices. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with laboratory measurement tools using a wide range of electronic, optical and mechanical technology. Development responsibilities may include laboratory design verification testing, creation of new product documentation and technology transfer and training materials when products are released.
Assist field engineering personnel and Labcyte customers with issues related to Labcyte application software, laboratory automation and third party control systems
Actively participate and represent Global Support on the Automation Product Development Team, Software Applications Development Team, and the Sustaining Engineering Team
Monitor and maintain the quality and integrity of the Support CRM system for the Automation Product Family
Work with R&D and Manufacturing teams to ensure support requirements are met during the development of new automation systems and product enhancements
Prepare, document and deliver training material for in house and field engineering personnel
Train field support engineers, product support agents, distributors and customers on all Labcyte automation products
Create and publish Technical Support Bulletins related to the Labcyte Automation Products Family and assist with publication of Labcyte Application Software products
Create, update and maintain service spare parts BOMs
Travel as needed to customer sites for installations, customer training and support of field service engineers
Education, Skills, Experience, and Requirements
BS/MS in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent experience
7-10 years of experience working as an Automation Specialist and/or experience as an Automation Integration Engineer where third party devices are deployed
Software programming/scripting experience in Python/C#/C++ and Visual Basic desirable
Experience in configuring and integrating devices with RS-232, USB, TCP/IP, etc.
Experience in building, configuring, and administering Windows PCs
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and experience with PLM systems, Salesforce.com and ServiceMax is desirable
Experience with life science based laboratory instrumentation including automated liquid handling systems and multi-axis Cartesian robotic systems is highly desirable
Basic knowledge of chemistry and laboratory techniques is a plus
Must have or be able to aquire a valid U.S. Passport
